What sport allows people of different ages, skill levels, and abilities to enjoy a work-out together?

Tandem Cycling!

Great for couples. Great for families. Great for the physically impaired who would, otherwise, never have an opportunity to ride a bike.

When people of different skill levels ride single bikes together, the slower rider is always struggling to keep up with the faster rider; or, the faster rider is always stopping to wait for the slower rider. A tandem eliminates all of that, and allows people of different ages, skill levels, and abilities, to truly enjoy a bike ride together.

Getting Started!

Selecting a Tandem:

Fitting a tandem can be tricky. However, selecting a bike that fits both riders well, will provide you with greater comfort, more efficient riding, and help prevent unecessary pain and injuries.

Do yourself a favor. Before you buy a tandem, find a good local tandem retailer, or professional bike fit expert. Have both of your bodies measured, so that you can find a tandem that has frame geometry that comes closest to matching each of your body's unique size and proportions. Learn more about bike fit.

Start with your local tandem club, or on-line discusion groups such as Tandem@hobbes. One of your greatest resources for information on selecting a tandem will be from people who ride, and have had experience with purchasing their own tandem. They are also a great resource for finding local tandem retailers, fit experts, and can answer almost any other question you may have.
